We are planning a photography bench show for our opening meeting in September. For those
who don’t know, a bench show is simply an informal show held during a regular club meeting.

The theme will be "Farm to Table.”

 

There will be six classes:

1. Garden Landscape: a color image of a vegetable garden, flower garden, or orchard during
the growing season
2. Morning Dew: a black and white image capturing fruits or vegetables in the morning dew
3. Pollinators at Work: a color image of a bee, butterfly, or bird pollinating blossoms
4. Heirloom Portraits: a close-up color image of a flower or vegetable emphasizing its color,
texture, geometry, or shape
5. Harvest Time: a color image of a farmer’s market or farm stand
6. Gathering at the Table: a color image of a home table showcasing freshly picked flowers or
vegetables

The process is as follows:

1. Select a photo that interprets one of these six classes and that is consistent with the
requirements of the class. If you wish, you may also select a second photo interpreting a
different class and we will use it in the bench show if we have space. Note: No identifiable
minor children may be included in the photo.

2. Have your photo(s) printed at Rye Camera Shop in 8x10” size with a white border, just as we
did for the daffodil show. The image plus the border will be 11x14” total.

3. At the same time that you have the image printed, send a digital copy to Pam at
pamelamcguire@icloud.com and Rosario at rosariobenavidesg24@gmail.com. Include in your
cover note the class or classes you wish to enter and a brief title for each photo (no more than
25 words).

4. Take your printed photo (protected in a plastic sleeve and envelope) to Pam’s house at 260
North Street, Rye (The Ives at Rye) no later than September 8. Let Pam know by email or text
(914-815-0286) when you have dropped it off. You can leave it by her front door. Be sure to
include your name, the class or classes, and your title(s).

5. Although the photo needs to be your own work, Pam and Rosario will provide low key advice if you wish.
